As a ceramic artist, I have different platforms to sell my works, and along with this, I create different pieces that correlate to each platform.  One of my favourite creations is the range of dog themed vases. During a recent interaction with a customer, I was asked if I could make dog vases, but make them to look like her dogs. I said yes because having the opportunity to commemorate someone's fur baby in a vase just feels so right. I was also pretty darn scared to mess it up. I made it clear that I can't promise perfection, but I would always strive to capture their likeness. When I say that the vases turned out crazy well, it's an understatement.  My customer was so delighted and made her own social media posts about it, for which I was very grateful. 

From little things, big things grow.  This one small order has lead to so much new business with orders coming in for dog and cat vases.  I am beyond thrilled with having the chance to create pieces so personal for my customers. Our pets, in my experience, are true members of the family, and give so much to us.  What a privilege it is to do this for people. 

My main take away from this was to always take the chance to do something new.  You never really know where it will take you.
