What's so interesting about me? Truthfully, nothing really. As a person, I'm a homebody who doesn't tend to leave the house much, and I like it that way. I love my family, and what time I do have mostly gets spent with them. I might even go so far as to say that I'm the dreaded B word...boring. But as an artist I love to play with the raw creativity that bubbles up inside me in the wee hours of the morning when I'm not sleeping, and turn it into something beautiful, or at the very least, interesting. I LOVE playing with clay, and the anticipation of what ceramics are going to look like when they come out of the kiln.
As a teenager, I fell in love with a handful of artists. The Masters. Those amazing creatives who struck out, developed a style all of their own, and ran with it, no matter what the society thought at the time. Their works made me look at the world in a totally different way. I'm so grateful to them for following that burning need to create their world view on canvas, from clay, in stone. As an adult (and an aging one at that), I still feed the fire that they started in me. In a world that is difficult, painful and worrisome at best, I truly feel that we deserve to have beauty and to hold onto the things that spark joy with both hands. I'm hoping that my works, big or small, spark joy for someone, and they fall in love with it.
If you were to scroll through the listings of my works on the website, you'd notice a wide range, from the tiniest, little Potato Pal, to the large, grand vases that truly are a statement piece. I try to create a little something from all styles that intrigue me, so hopefully there's a little something for everyone.
Will you ever see my works in a room at the MET? Probably not. But what you will see are works of art, functional or decorative, that are born from a need to create. To will the clay into being something else. Something new. Something beautiful. Something fun. Something to fall in love with.
